For many years I performed energy work on individuals and spaces. When performing energy clearings and chakra work for others I used my own energy to support the needs of the client. Even though this is a common practice in many cultures, I found it lacks some of the things I have found so incredibly powerful in the healing practice of Reiki.

When using your own energy to do this work it can be extremely draining over time, adding an energy exchange between practitioner and recipient that may not be desirable, depending on the mental/emotional, physical, and spiritual health status of the practitioner and the recipient.

I often felt rundown and had to work extra hard at keeping my own energy clear. But, I have found that Reiki is something entirely different. It will support and reinforce your energy field, unlike any other healing modality I have encountered.

The word Reiki is Japanese in origin and translates to “universal wisdom” and the “vital life force energy” that circulates all of us, even crystals, plants, and animals. That is why they also respond so well to Reiki. In fact, my level one students are encouraged to transmit Reiki to their food & drink, crystals, pets, and plants in addition to daily self-practice.

This greatly enhances the healing energy that will be surrounding you in your own environment, inviting it to raise the vibrational frequency of everything that it touches.

When channeling Reiki energy, I am the vessel through which it travels through to the recipient. It is the pure energy of divine consciousness that streams in an endless supply. As long as you are open to it transmitting through you, it does so with great ease and comfort. It can do no harm to either the recipient or the practitioner because its vibration is so sacred and strong.

It honors and upholds the universal law of free will.

In a standard Reiki session, practitioners and recipients can experience deep meditative states, elevated consciousness, contact from angels and guides, peace, relaxation, euphoria, elation, and the movement and release of energetic blocks.

Energetic blocks can happen to all of us. As life force energy naturally flows through all of us, it can experience disruptions that create blockages in the movement of that vital energy. Life is filled with many twists and turns that can absolutely alter how you are able to process and transmute its frequencies.

Each of us has an innate ability to heal ourselves from within, and Reiki powerfully charges and activates this process.

Reiki is timeless and was rediscovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan over 100 years ago. He was a Christian monk who truly wanted to understand the healing methods of Jesus. He felt that this was something all humans could access from a divine consciousness - and he was right.

Upon his own spiritual attunement on Mt. Kurama, Dr. Usui claimed that a swirling rainbow of bubbles hit him in the third eye and knocked him down. He had been waiting for an answer and a spiritual truth to embody him on his quest for access to the healing realms.

He longed to share the knowledge of Christlike healing energy with the world. And just like him, I felt incredibly eager to share this modality with everyone!

Through my own experiences with receiving Reiki, it shifted my mindset, my perception of the world around me, cleared and activated my energy centers, and invited me to understand myself and my spiritual nature in a way I never did before.

In a standard session, the recipient will be dressed comfortably and either laying down or sitting upright. The practitioner will use hands-free or light touch hand placements beginning at the head and moving down the body, transmitting Reiki energy into the major energy centers, or chakras, of the body.

This can be done in person or remotely because Reiki moves beyond the concept of space and time.

I’ve served so many with Reiki, either through private sessions, group circles, or teaching them how to become practitioners. I’ve watched not only my own life unfold in magical and unexpected ways, but I’ve had the continued privilege of supporting others with the transformational features of Reiki.
